Jessica Helfand, Chair
Jessica Helfand is a partner, with William Drenttel, in Winterhouse, a design studio in Northwest Connecticut, a founder of the blog Design Observer and a senior critic at Yale School of Art. She has been a contributing editor and columnist for Print, I.D. and Eye magazines and has written for numerous national publications, including the Los Angeles Times Book Review, Aperture and The New Republic. Her next book, Scrapbooks: An American History, will be published in October 2008 by Yale University Press.
Michael Bierut
Michael Bierut is a partner in the New York office of the international design consultancy Pentagram. He is a recipient of the AIGA Medal and a member of the Art Directors Hall of Fame, a senior critic at Yale School of Art, a founder of the blog Design Observer and the author of 79 Short Essays on Design.
Kevin Lippert
A graduate of Princeton University’s School of Architecture, Kevin Lippert is the founder and publisher of Princeton Architectural Press, one of the world’s most respected publishers of books on architecture, design and visual culture, and recipient of numerous awards for editorial and design excellence. Lippert is a member of the board of directors of the Van Alen Institute in New York and has also taught computer-aided design at Princeton University and The Cooper Union.
Judith Thurman
Judith Thurman’s latest book, Cleopatra’s Nose: 39 Varieties of Desire (Farrar, Straus Giroux), represents twenty years of her work as a cultural critic at The New Yorker. She is also the author of Secrets of the Flesh: A Life of Colette (Knopf), which won the Salon and Los Angeles Times Book Awards for biography, and Isak Dinesen: The Life of a Storyteller, which received the 1983 National Book Award for Nonfiction.
